Club History - Romans
From the inauspicious beginnings of kicking a ball around the local park, the club was formed and entered the West Hertfordshire Churches League in September 1997.
The underlying principles of the club can be defined in three ways:
Firstly, we are welcoming to all players who are willing to accept our club's Christian values and standards, in the knowledge that Christian football can be an entry point to a journey of faith for many people, regardless of background.
Secondly, we are keen to be involved in the local community and have adopted the Handicapped Children's Pilgrimage Trust as our charity.
Finally we are keen to challenge ourselves and compete beyond our league.
For a number of years the club considered expanding to two teams. This was finally realised for the 2003/04 season. Sponsorship from Mount Carmel Kindergarten enabled a second team to be formed and join the East Hertfordshire & West Essex Churches League. The expansion enabled the club to broaden its reach into the community and has helped the club to grow.
