The ‘Blue Bloods’ defeated in exciting end-to-end encounter.

The ‘Blue Bloods’ suffered their first defeat of the season. It was a tough encounter as these top-of-the- table teams met for the very first time. Right from the word go Irlam piled on the pressure as they took an early lead through a dipping 25-yard half-volley. The ‘Blue Bloods’ brought it back as a neat combination down the right hand side from Declan McNAMARA and Dylan
MARSHALL threaded the ball through to Alex DRYBURGH to tidily slide His shot wide of the advancing Keeper. It didn't take long for Irlam to regain the lead as they hit the Blues on the counter and a neat finish made it 2-1. Irlam began to take control of the game forcing saves from Billy O'CARROLL in the Bridge goal as they looked for a third. However, the ‘Blue Bloods’ began a fight-back playing the sort of football they are capable of and a mazy run and a delicate pass from SALIM played in LINGOUBA whose clever cut back enabled McNAMARA to finish spectacularly into the top corner of the net, making the game 2-2. Another slip-up by the Bridge Boys let in Irlam to score a third and take the lead yet again. As Irlam were prepared to see the first-half out, good work from the ‘Blue Bloods’ front-men forced the ball back to the Goal-keeper whose miss-kick found MARSHALL to steer the ball home calmly. Half-Time 3-3.
Although you wouldn't have guessed, the Bridge Boys started the second-half well creating chances but just couldn't take them. This proved costly as Irlam took the lead with 15-minutes to spare after neat foot-work from their Striker who coolly scored. Again the ‘Blue Bloods’ pressed for that equaliser before Irlam caught them on the break once again killing the game off with a fifth goal. The game, although an exciting end-to-end encounter and a top advertisement for this Leagues strength, ended as a bad day at the office for the ‘Blue Bloods’ who will be looking to respond and bounce back in the next game.
