Centre back Harry Peasgood has signed a contract for the coming season the club can confirm. Writes Chris Bond

Harry has become the first player to graduate from the Stamford AFC Academy and be offered a contract with the first team.

First team manager Graham Drury said, “I believe Harry has a bright future, he’s shown me that he doesn’t look out of place with the older players. I have played him in three different positions, but I see him as a centre half and wouldn’t be at all bothered to start him first game of the season.
“It’s excellent news for Stamford AFC and I am hoping this is the first of many to make the step up from academy to first team. It shows having a youth system is so important for the club and with the reintroduction of the U18’s it shows how we are forward thinking.
“Congratulations again to Harry and let’s hope we are the perfect stepping stone for I am sure you can move up the leagues if you listen and keep your feet on the ground. Most of all enjoy the wonderful game.”

Harry, who made a few sporadic appearances towards the end of last season, played for The Young Daniels and has benefited from two years at The Daniels Football Academy partnership with New College Stamford managed by head coach Gary Brown, Chris Palmer and Guy Walton.
Brown had the following to say, “I am delighted for Harry, as he has shown through his two years as captain of the academy team a level of maturity and willingness to learn and put into practice that has stood him in good stead for this first team opportunity.
“This achievement both shows that there is a definite progression from the Academy through to 1st team, but also that the club are totally supportive of the scheme and what the academy can offer the club.”

Stamford’s first home match of the season is on Tuesday 21st against Loughborough Dynamo, make sure you’re there to potentially see Harry in action.
