English football’s most famous silverware will be on show ahead of the Daniels’ FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie against Grantham Town

The FA Cup trophy will take pride of place at Stamford's Kettering Road ground this weekend, prior to Saturday's Second Qualifying Round tie against local rivals Grantham Town.

The Lincolnshire FA have arranged for the historic piece of silverware to be with the Daniels for the afternoon, giving local fans the opportunity to have photographs taken alongside the famous trophy.

The Cup will be located in the supporters' bar at the ground from 2:00pm on Saturday. Fans who wish to have pictures taken alongside the iconic trophy will be asked to make a donation to Asthma UK in memory of local Deeping Rangers footballer Zack King, who recently passed away after suffering an asthma attack.

The game itself kicks off at 3pm, with the Daniels now just three wins away from a place in the FA Cup First Round proper.

Guy Walton, Director of Football at Stamford AFC, said:
“It's really exciting that the FA Cup is coming to Stamford this weekend. To have such a historic trophy here is brilliant for the club and the supporters.

“I am sure our fans will embrace this wonderful opportunity to have pictures taken with the trophy, and it's great that we can support Asthma UK at the same time, in memory of Zack King.

“We will be raising money for an absolutely fantastic cause, as well as giving our fans a treat, and I’m sure it will add to what will be a hotly-contested fixture against our local rivals Grantham Town.”
