Stamford AFC has learnt that a member of the 1976 FA Vase team has recently passed away.
Pete Down, who was 69 played for the Daniels during their first FA Vase Wembley run in 1975/76.
He was a centre half who played alongside Malcolm Hird.
Pete who was born in Bottesford, played his early career for various sides in and around Grantham. After playing for Stamford during the Vase run he again played for Grantham Town.
Our condolences to Pete's family and friends.
