Ex Peterborough and Stamford player Ron Cooper sadly passed away at the end of last season.

In memory of his commitment to local football his daughter Sharon Heaton and husband David have offered a wonderful silver cup as an annual award to a young footballer between 6 and 18 years of age at The Daniels.

Under 15s Centre Half Josh Whalley was presented with the award before the Daniels v Posh pre season match and as first recipient to receive this particular award commented “I would like to say thank you to the Daniels and to Guy Walton as my coach. Guy has helped me to develop as a footballer and regain confidence in my ability and love for the game. I am really proud to play for my home town club”.

Ron Cooper played 150 games for Posh and played for The Daniels under manager Norman Rigby.
