New facilities to be opened up to Daniels’ supporters and local community

Stamford AFC is to hold a post-construction preview of the club’s new stadium and sports complex ahead of the grand opening of the Borderville Sports Centre.

Friday 26th September will see the doors of the complex opened to fans and people from the local area between the hours of 18:00 and 22:00, with visitors getting the opportunity to walk around the Daniels’ brand new Zeeco Stadium.

There will also be an opportunity to cast an eye over the new sports facilities at the centre, including the brand new 3G training pitch at the ‘New Hedge End’.

The Daniels’ Football Development Centre teams will participate in games on the training pitch to generate an operational aspect to proceedings, while the new function room will also be made available to those in attendance.

The Ryhall Road site, which was partly funded by the Football Association, Football Foundation and the Skills Funding Agency was constructed in fewer than 60,000 man hours by RG Carter and sports specialists Limonta Smith.

The Daniels’ relocation is firmly on the horizon, with the FA due to conduct a pitch inspection towards the end of September, before giving the all-clear for the club to move from their Kettering Road base.

The community evening will provide a one-off, access-all-areas pass for fans and local residents to see the new facilities and benefits that the Borderville Sports Centre will bring to the area as a whole, and is expected to generate large amount of interest.

Ahead of the event, Guy Walton, Stamford AFC Director of Football, said:

“We are really excited to be at this particular stage where we can showcase our new stadium and all the extra facilities to the local community.

“It’s great that the club will benefit from such an impressive new stadium and can move forward into an exciting future for The Daniels, but it’s about more than that. The new Borderville site will benefit the area as a whole and this evening is the perfect chance for the people of Stamford to see the finished building.

“We hope to see as many fans and people of the community here as possible, and we look forward to welcoming them all to the new home of both the Daniels and the college.”
