Youth Team To Return

5 months ago By Richard Curtis

Stamford AFC are pleased to announce the relaunch of their midweek Under 18 Youth team for the 2018/2019 season.

The team will play in the Northants Senior Youth League and will represent the club in the prestigious FA Youth Cup. Having the Under 18 youth team back completes the natural pathway from our junior sides starting at Under 7 through to youth team football.

Emphasis will be to attract, search and recruit the very best talented local players leading to the pinnacle of playing for the under 18 youth team in the FA Youth Cup and the chance of progressing into the Daniels first team.

Andy Noble, who will manage the Under 18 youth team says, “A big thanks must go to the chairman David Whitby and the board of directors in particular Geoff Green, plus Peter Rowbotham and Guy Walton along with Stamford AFC manager Graham Drury, who are all fully behind and supporting of the return of the Daniels Under 18 youth team. This will give players from Stamford and the surrounding area the opportunity to represent Stamford AFC at the highest levels and benefit from the clubs fantastic facilities at the Zeeco stadium.”

Graham Drury first team manager said, “I’m absolutely delighted to see the club continue to invest in the development of our youth team and policy. This is a very exciting time for the club and I look forward to working with the Under 18’s management team plus all the levels of Stamford AFC as we continue to produce the top talent in the area and utilise such talent within the first team going forward.”

The Under 18 games will normally be played on a Monday evening throughout the season at The Zeeco Stadium. There will be commercial opportunities for sponsors and local businesses to help with this new initiative.

Trial dates to look at joining the squad will be announced very soon on the Stamford AFC twitter pages. Please follow them at @StamfordAFC1896 and @StamfordAFC18 or for further information contact the team manager Andy Noble on 07939 080948.
