Daniels Suffer Home Stalemate
Stamford returned to league action but failed to breakthrough against resolute Pickering Town.
The starting eleven saw a debut for new signing Isai Marselia. The Daniels started brightly forcing a couple of corners but did not really test the visiting keeper.
The first effort of note came after 27 minutes when Jon Challinor had a shot, but it was wide of the goal.
A few minutes later, Stamford thought they had made the breakthrough when Joe Boachie raced through on goal and Pickering keeper Charlie Andrew was out of his area as they both raced towards the goal and both had their foot raised it was Boachie who reached the ball and knocked it goalwards but the referee adjudged the Daniels forward had fouled the keeper.
The second half started brightly for Stamford. First Ryan Seal had a shot which Andrew saved in the visiting goal. Then Jordon Cooke had an effort cleared off line.
Pickering then had a great chance to score. Billy Logan crossed the ball to Josh Greening who fired his shot from 6 yards and Dan Haystead pulled of a reflex save to prevent the Pikes from taking the lead.
On the hour mark, Marselia had his shot blocked by a Pickering defender the ball fell to Jake Duffy, but he blazed his shot over the bar. This was followed by Boachie having a shot, but this was blocked by the Pickering defence.
Boachie then had a great chance when he challenged the Pickering keeper and the ball deflected goal wards but there was a covering defender.
Stamford continued to press looking for an opening and Seal had another effort saved by the Pickering keeper.
Going in the final few minutes, Stamford piled the pressure on. On 80 minutes there was a scramble in the Pickering goalmouth but despite plenty of efforts the Daniels could not get in a clear shot on goal.
In the final minute, Boachie had a shot saved by the keeper. This was followed by shot that ricocheted of the post.
In injury time, the visitors almost grabbed a winner, but their effort was blocked by the Daniels defence.
