Since the start of the season Stanford have struggled to pick the same 15 due to injuries and 1st team call ups and results have reflected this. The red men are now a more settled side and results are improving coming off a good win v Dagenham Stanford were full of confidence for this Saturdays game. Romford arrived with a mixture of youth and experience with most of their backs coming from Romfords colt side, the game kicked off and for the first 10 minutes the game was a tight affair but Stanford had most of the pressure and territory although it would be Romford to score first. This done the trick as far as Stanford were concerned as after that Stanford never looked back, Romford were under pressure all over the pitch and it would only be a matter of time before Stanford scored with Cochrane, Herbert and Lennon combining to send Lennon in for the first of his two tries. The first half continued in the same vein with Stanford full of running they beat Romford to every breakdown and attacked from every angle this led to tries from Herbert, Cochrane and Oneil.
Cochrane pegged Romford back into their own 22 at every oppurtunity and with Stanford's forwards taking no prisoners especially Towlson and Anderson breaking anything that dared stand in front of them, Romford began to crumble adding to this Herbert and Lennon hitting the line at pace Romford's youngsters faded away to allow Cochrane and Stanford to dictate the pace of the game.
A number of changes at half time did little to change the way the game was unfolding, Stanford still attacked and further tries came from Towlson, Anderson, Lennon and Barter with Cochrane converting 6 of the tries. The red men will be pleased with this latest win and are building a good side to take forward for the rest of the season special mentions go to O'connell and Latter for their hard work all over the pitch, Sean Cochrane
would like to thank the players for their continued commitment and hard work. An extra special mention goes to Sam Herbert
and Callum Reid who we wish all the luck in the future true legends and clubmen.
