Excellent win for Stansted over fourth placed Barking
BARKING FC 3 v 4 STANSTED FC
Two goals from Jack Isherwood helped Stansted earn the three points away at fourth placed Barking.
The hosts opening the scoring on 15 minutes with a goal from Steve Willis and were looking the livelier of the two teams but Stansted levelled after 18 minutes when Conor Martin, having his first start after a long-term knee injury, provided the perfect cross for Sam Ashford to slot home.
The hosts had another good opportunity but didn’t take it, then a great run from Stansted’s Matt Gill saw him brought down and the resulting free-kick from Ashford was just wide.
Stansted were always looking to attack and the midfield duo of Tom Le Masurier and Matt Wedlake worked tirelessly and then the visitors took the lead on 35 minutes when a long ball from Paul Grimsey saw Billy Turner head home.
Just before the interval Barking whipped in a dangerous free kick across the Stansted goalmouth but no-one got on the end of it.

Within a minute of the re-start great work down the right from Grimsey and a ball in from Ashford saw Isherwood guide the ball in past the Barking keeper.
The hosts reduced the arrears when James Peagrum scored but soon after they were reduced to ten men when they lost a player with a straight red card. But they continued to press for an equaliser and got it through Santos.
Barking were then reduced to nine men when a reckless challenge earnt another player a straight red, this probably cost them the game as Isherwood bundled in the winner at the back post from an Ashford lobbed pass.
This fourth straight win sees Stansted move up to 8th with 1 league game to Clapton next Saturday and the same opponents in the cup final the following week.
