Stansted take all 3 points

Burnham Ramblers 0 v 1 Stansted
Stansted picked up their first win of this season with a 1v0 victory over Burnham Ramblers. It really should have been won by a bigger margin with the chances the visitors created but in the end they held on for victory.
The first chance of the match fell to Stansted’s Jack Sykes but his effort from a Chris Howard cross went just wide after 8 mins.
On 12 mins a move started but Dean Nevill at the back found Sykes whose through ball found Reggie Yembra but his shot was well saved by the home keeper. 5 mins later a long range effort from Sykes smacked the crossbar.
The deadlock was broken on 27 mins when a delightful through ball by Joel Young found Sykes who’s left foot strike found the bottom corner.
Stansted were looking the most likely to score again as they forced the home side back and Ben Swift fired just over.
The home side had a chance to level on 32 mins but the headed effort went over the bar.
Further chances before the break fell to Young and Yembra but their efforts went wide.
Half time – Burnham 0 v 1 Stansted
The second half began in much the same way as the first period with the visitors creating the better chances, Sykes hitting one just over the bar and Nevill seeing his left foot effort inches wide of the post. Yembra had a great chance with a one on one with the home keeper but blasted well over. After an hour a clear cut chance fell to Stansted’s Anthony Aylett after a superb ball by Young but his effort was straight at the keeper.
At this point the visitors tended to sit back more and defend their lead which let Burnham create more chances but the safe hands of Stansted’s keeper Tim Pitman and solid defending by Nevill and skipper Dave Limber helped the visitors to a clean sheet and the 3 points.
Stansted manager Paul Pittuck in his post-match interview was delighted to get up and running with this first win of the season.
