Clinical first half finishing from the #airportarmy
STANSTED FC 3 v 1 WALTHAM FOREST FC
After some clinical finishing in the first half hour of the game the airportmen put the game out of sight of the visitors with 3 first half goals.
The first effort on goal came from the lively Ryan Ramsey after just 5 mins but his shot was over the bar.
A couple of mins later Waltham Forest had a goal attempt but the long range effort was comfortably saved by Tim Pitman in the home goal.
The breakthrough came after 9 mins when a long ball from Jack Isherwood found Ramsey who’s great run and finish was top draw.
20 mins - Stansted increased their lead when great high tempo pressure on the visitors defence by Stefan Neilsen and Ryan Ramsey led to a defensive mix up and the ball fell to Stansted’s Jevoy Blair who side footed home.
On 23 mins a through ball to Ramsey from Chris Moore led to a corner and from it a shot by Neilsen straight at the keeper
Forest had a couple of efforts shortly after but nothing to trouble Stansted keeper Pitman.
The game was pretty much wrapped up on 27 mins when a Neilsen pass found Ramsey who slotted it in with his trusty left foot.
Just before the interval Julian Lloyd had a great chance after another great pass from Neilsen but his effort was not quite good enough
HALF TIME 3 v 1 to the #airportarmy
The second half was a more even affair with Forest getting a goal back after 68 mins, a header which Pitman could not quite stop going over the line.
James Ainslie for the home side was absolutely outstanding at left back making a couple of superb defensive tackles. Skipper Dave Limber kept his side well organised as they comfortably held on for the three points.
Subs -61 mins – Jevoy Blair replaced by Chris Gormley. 74 mins Jay Hocking-Rising on for Stef Neilsen. 81 mins Julian Lloyd OFF, Jamie Bennett ON.
