It Wasn't Stansteds Day in the Gordon Brasted Cup Final

Today Stansted play Clapton in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy. It is the 1st time in quite a lot of years that Stansted have reached a cup final, so it will be a big day for us.

The first five minutes were quite lively with play at both ends but both teams having trouble keeping the ball.

On 11 minutes Stansted win a free kick deep into Clapton's half. Jack Isherwood stepped up to take it but curled it straight at the keeper.

On 13 minutes Stansted passed the ball around and managed a shot inside the Clapton box but the shot was deflected wide.

Stansted seem to have settled down a bit now and have started to put a bit of pressure on Clapton trying to force a mistake.

On 25 minutes Tom Le Masurie was yellow carded for a late challenge

On 28 minutes Clapton were making a challenge on Stansted's goal, they crossed the ball into Stansted's box and the striker headed the ball which looped over the keeper and into the net.

On 35 minutes Clapton again broke through Stansted's defence but blasted the ball over the bar.

On 37 Minutes Clapton won a penalty with a questionable decision by the referee

On the stroke of half time Clapton again on the attack, the the striker shooting from outside the area and just wide of the post.

Straight from kick off Stansted went on the attack and won a free kick near the edge of Clapton's goal, it was taken by Sam Ashford who floated the ball into the box, the goalkeeper was challenged by the Stansted player and the ball dropped to the ground and the keeper dived on it.

On 62 minutes Stansted won s throw in in the Clapton half which was headed just wide by Connor Martin.

On 65 minutes Stansted attack once again with Tom Lakin on the ball creating his own change which was deflected wide for a corner

It was Clapton turn now to put pressure on Stansted and they played the ball around the box and then the striker was brought down on the edge of Stansted's box for a free kick. The kick was taped across goal and struck just wide of the post.

Stansted make two subs on 73 minutes with Luke Adams and Joe Rudkin off and Stuart Hoskins and Matt Wedlake on.

79 minutes gone and Clapton were on the attack with their front men pushing on Stansted's defence and the ball was struck from halfway in the Stansted box right into the bottom corner to make it 3-0 Clapton.

84 minutes Stansted make a substitution with Tom Lakin off and Tom Hollamby on

85 minutes Clapton went 4-0 up with a soft goal and finishing the game off
