Stansted FC welcomed Sporting Bengal in the Qtr final of the Gordon Brasted Trophy the teams met in November and it ended in a 1-1 draw. Going into the game Stansted are unbeaten in 3 games and were looking to get into the semi final and keep the good run going

The game started with Stansted on the front foot on 4 minutes Matt Wedlake got bought down for a Stansted free kick on the edge of the Sporting box Jack Isherwood stepped up and fired a shot on goal but it was deflected over the bar .

On 10 minutes Sam Ashford breaks from midfield to find Tom Lakin who side foots a shot on goal only for it to hit the post.

On 20 minutes Stansted win another free kick again on the edge of the Sporting box , Sam Ashford stepped up and whipped the ball in for it to take a deflection into the Sporting net to make it 1-0 Stansted.

Sporting had a couple of half chances on the 28th minute a ball down the Stansted right hand side was picked up by there winger and the ball was whipped in but no one got on the end of it and a good move wasted.

On 35 minutes a corner to Stansted whipped in by Ashford and it was headed backwards falling to Jack Hayes who only had to slot home but somehow he shot over the bar and a chance missed to extend Stansteds lead.

On 37 minutes Sporting beat the offside trap with the striker through on goal he had to score but it was down to Stansteds Reece Paine to save with his legs to deny the equalizer .

On 40 minutes a free kick to Stansted was whipped in by Ashford it was headed goal bound only for the Sporting goalkeeper to save well to keep Sporting in the game 1-0 HT

The second half stared with Stansted making a change with Matt Wedlake making way for Tom Hollanby , on 51 minutes Sporting go on the attack down Stansteds left hand side the ball played into the box and found their striker who got the shot off only for Paine to save and turn the ball around the post.

With Sporting now pushing for the equalizer on 61 minutes Sporting win a free kick they whipped a great delivery into the Stansted box and the ball headed goal bound which looked a certain goal only for Stansteds Reece Paine to pull off a world class save.

On 69 minutes Sporting win another free kick , the ball delivered perfectly into the Stansted box and headed home to level the score 1-1 and all to play for .

On 71 minutes the ball was played over the top to find Tom Hollanby who crossed the ball first time to find Lakin to strike the ball only to hit the bar.

With the game now in the balance Stansted get some fresh legs on with a hard working Matt Ashwell making way for Gary Rowntree , With both teams now going for it there was chances both ends with both keepers keeping the score level. But on 87 minutes Stansted win a free kick which was taken by Isherwood to find the head of Jack Hayes to nod down for Lakin to slot home to make it 2-1 and which proved to be the match winner FT 2-1

On the night Stansted was the better side they played some nice football and could have won the game in the first half but they now go into the semi final to face either Hullbridge Sports or FC Romania.
