The march goes on

Stansted travelled to Waltham forest on the back of 2 wins out of 2 and were looking to pick another 3 points up. The game started with Stansted straight out of the traps and piling on the pressure Within the first 6 minutes they forced 3 corners but could not capitalize from them.

With Stansted still probing, the ball was picked up in the middle of the field and a through ball pass from Ollie Fortune was picked up by the Stansted striker who shot low only to be blocked by the Waltham Forest defender and out for a corner. The corner was whipped in by Sam Ashford finding the head of Stuart Hoskins to head home to make it 1 - 0 on 12 minutes.

On 14 minutes with Stansted still having plenty of the play, Waltham Forest gave away a free kick outside the box, the free kicked was whipped in by Iwan Lewis with Connor Martin connecting with a header but straight into the keepers arms.

On 15 minutes and a good phase of play from Stansted the ball was flicked on from Ollie Fortune into Alex Andrews, he cut inside the Waltham Forest defender and unleashed a low left foot shot that just went wide of the post.

On 19 minutes Josh Saggers picked the ball up in the middle, put a ball down the left hand side to Sam Ashford who put a hard low cross into the box but Stansted could not convert .

Stansted started to take there foot off the pedal and Waltham Forest started to get there self back into the game and on 30 minutes Stansted lost the ball in the middle to be picked up by the Waltham Forest player who saw the Stansted keeper off his line and tried a 30 yard shot but just went past the post and the danger signs were their and the tide was turning.

On 34 minutes Reece Paine threw the ball out to Sam Ashford who flicked the ball onto Jack Isherwood, he threaded a through ball to Alex Andrews but was just flagged offside but a great flowing move.

With Waltham Forest chipping away and having some good possession they started to ask some questions , and with Stansted not closing down, the pressure paid off. On 45 minutes the ball was won on the Stansteds right hand side they failed to close down the Waltham Forest striker who cut inside and riffled a low shot into the Stansted net to level the score 1-1 right on half time.

With a few words needed at half time Stansted came out and straight from the kick off went on the attack and a ball slipped into Ollie Fortune but was just to long and the goalkeeper collected it.

On 56 minutes Waltham Forest pick the ball up down Stansted's left hand side, the ball whipped in and the Waltham Forest striker connecting inside the box putting the ball goal bound forcing Reece Paine to make a good reaction save to keep the score level .

It was anybody's game, on 58 minuets Stansted's captain Tom Le Masurier put a through ball to Alex Andrews but Waltham Forest keeper just managed to get to it, but with a poor clearance falling to Sam Ashford his shot went just wide.

Stansted made a couple of changes with Chris Gibbs coming on for Ollie Fortune and Matt Wedlake coming on for Jack Isherwood to try and make things happen. It started to pay off on 76 minutes with a whipped in ball for Ashford fell to Connor Martin's feet but he could not convert.

On 78 minutes a ball from Iwan Lewis was put over the top to Andrews who was through on goal, the Waltham Forest defender clipped his ankles but the Stansted Striker stayed on his feet only to shoot wide.

Waltham Forest went straight down the other end and a good strike inside the box was saved by Reece Paine.On 85 minutes a through ball from Stansted over the head of Alex Andrews was flagged by the linesman for offside but the referee let the play go on with Andrews not interfering with play. The ball fell to Matt Wedlake who fired the ball across the Waltham Forest box only for the Waltham Forest defender to turn it into his own net to make it 2-1 to Stansted.

On 86 minutes Stansted made their last substitution with Mark Roach coming on for Stuart Hoskins. On 89 minutes a Stansted corner was whipped in and headed back goal bound falling to Connor Martin to fire a half volley shot only for the Waltham Forest keeper to make a good save denying the defender his first goal of the season.With that being the last phase of play the game ended 2-1 to Stansted.

All in all it was not the best Stansted have played this season but sometime you have to win ugly, which is what they did and more importantly picked up another 3 points to push them up the table to 12th position and keep the winning mentality going .
