A veritable feast of rugby with the visit of Nat 2 side Cornish All Blacks, while the Titans are reborn to play in a fund raiser for CLIC Sargent

The intensity of St Austell RFC’s pre-season preparations will be turned up another couple of notches when the Cornish All Blacks roll into Tregorrick on Saturday.

Director of Rugby Andy Ashwin has deliberately set a tough conditioning programme since training for the new season commenced in July and the visit of the National League 2 side is the latest challenge to test the squad. Ashwin “We had a great workout against the Cornish Pirates last Thursday and this will be no different. The game will stretch us and ask questions of our physicality, mental attitude, skill levels and the ability to execute our game under pressure. The guys are really excited by the prospect of testing themselves against another professional outfit and go into the game with no fear and determined to give a good account of themselves. The CABs are a side we admire and like Redruth set the standards we aspire to achieve”.

An extended Saints squad will be named for Saturday's 3pm kick off with the game following the now common pre-season format of 4 quarters of 20 minutes.

The Saints game is the centrepiece of a Bank Holiday Super Saturday of Rugby at Tregorrick.

The Sinners also kick off at 3pm to play their first game of pre-season against the CAB IIs.

A very special game brings Super Saturday to an exciting climax with the long awaited return of the St Austell RFC Veteran side the Titans when they take on an invitation CLIC Sargent XV in a charity fund raising match (5:30pm KO).

The game has been organised by Sinners’ prop Richard Brewer and his partner Donna Allen to raise money for the Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood - CLIC Sargent. Their beautiful daughter Freya has spent much of her young life in and out of hospital receiving treatment for leukaemia. CLIC Sargent have provided a great deal of support to the family and this is a chance to raise valuable funds for an amazing charity. A disco will follow the game at 7pm with pasties and scones along with a raffle and auction which includes a signed Heineken Cup Referee’s shirt by Nigel Owen; a weekend break in yurt in a local campsite and free tickets to a host of local attractions.
