Attention all Coaches, Team Managers, First Aiders and Volunteers

Play It Safe Course – at 7pm on Monday 23rd March 2015

The RFU is at the forefront of safeguarding young people participating in sport. The RFU Safeguarding Policy sets out key principles as well as providing best practice guides.

At St Austell RFC, we are committed to best practice and it has recently been suggested that some of our training and procedures need to be updated, as a result of this we have commissioned some safeguarding training to be delivered at the club.

The Play it Safe Course is designed for club coaches and volunteers working with children. This is a three hour course designed to:

- Identify best practices

- Identify signs and indicators of possible abuse and poor practice

- State action to take if there is a concern or disclosure

- Recognise their role in safeguarding and protecting children and vulnerable adults.

The Play it Safe course costs £15.00 and can be booked on the RFU online booking system. (SEE LINK BELOW) If the fee will cause you difficulty, please speak to me, Paul Hayes or Sue Green and we will be able to help.

This course will count as CPD in the RFU Coaching Academy and help to demonstrate our commitment as individuals and as a Club, to delivering safe and fun rugby for all our Youth playing members.

Children are the lifeblood of the game and it is crucial that they are cared for in the correct manner. Any player under the age of 18 is classed as a child and should be respected as such. The Play it Safe Course is a safeguarding course delivered in a rugby context and as such, is an important basic level of understanding for all adult volunteers working with the Children playing for our club.

I would like to urge as many of you as possible to book onto this course, even if you are already experienced in safeguarding issues, it is essential that we have up to date CPD on RFU Safeguarding for all our Coaches and Team Managers in the next 12 months.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Daryl Cook
