This Sunday at Tregorrick Park - 1pm KO

Jason Leonard U20 County Championship

Cornwall U20 V Hampshire U20
Sunday 25 February at St Austell RFC with a 1300 kick off

The Cornwall U20 team play their second pool game on Sunday 25 February at St Austell RFC, Tregorrick Park, with a 1pm kick off.

Cornwall’s opponents on the day will be Hampshire who like Cornwall won their first pool game by defeating Dorset & Wilts 24 - 7. This fixture is expected to be both challenging and entertaining so well worth the trip to Tregorrick Park to watch and enjoy.

It is fair to say that Cornwall had a difficult first game. They travelled to the Forest of Dean on Sunday 11th February to play a strong Gloucestershire outfit at Cinderford RFC. Cornwall were able to secure a four try bonus point win by beating Gloucestershire 15 - 24. Penryn’s Kyle Gatrix scored two of those tries, with Noah Nash and Jake Penprase scoring one each.

How do players get to represent Cornwall at U20 level? The U20s are selected from players who have a birthday after 31 August 1998, were born or reside in Cornwall, or are registered as a player with a Cornish club.

The squad of over 50 players have been training since the start of the year and are coached by ex-St Austell RFC player Matt Shepherd and Josh Lord, both of whom have played senior rugby for Cornwall and are Rugby Football Union (RFU) qualified coaches.

The squad consists of 18, 19 and 20 year old players and forms part of the Cornish Rugby Football Union’s (CRFU) progression and development of young players.

The CRFU, and U20 section would like to thank everybody from St Austell RFC for their work in putting on the fixture, along with our kit suppliers O’Neills, shirt sponsor Kelsall Steele Investment Services Ltd and programme sponsors Booths Print.

The gates open at St Austell on the 25 February at 1130 where a warm welcome awaits you. Entry will cost £5 including a match programme with accompanied U16’s having free entry. There is lots of free car parking space at St Austell RFC and a full bar and BBQ/Food service will be available. Please come along and support the young “Black and Golds” in this potential pool decider.

Tregorrick Park - PL26 7AG – Please avoid approaching the ground via Pentewan Road and Tregorrick Village as it can cause congestion. Please use PorthPean Road access route if possible.
