Sinners take centre stage in fine victory over Wadebridge

With no league game for the Saints it was down to the Sinners to take centre stage against Wadebridge seconds.

They did not disappoint winning 27 - 11 to record the first win over Wadebridge at this level for 10 years. After the disappointment of having last saturdays fixture cancelled it was great to see the lads playing so well and taking this deserved victory. As gratifying as the win, was the manner in which it was achieved; they played with great structure and panache with strong displays throughout and several Colts were blooded.

It is hard to keep enthusiasm levels up when games are cancelled at short notice, as has happened a few times, but I can't speak highly enough of the Sinners and the hard work put in by their manager, Dan "Fudgie" Hambly. He has made an immense contribution this season. We have played over 50 players in our Saints side this season so a strong, fit and well organised Sinners side has been essential.

Congratulations again to our colts who beat Falmouth last wednesday to clinch their league title and guarantee themselves home advantage when they play their cup semi-final.

I am also very aware that we need a strong, thriving mini-junior section to keep the conveyor belt of talent moving. For example our Under 12 recently reached their cup semi-final only losing to Redruth the eventual winners, congratulations to them

So the season is bubbling up nicely for us with important games for all sides over the next week.

On wednesday the third game in the Sinners v St Mawgan series takes place at Tregorrick Park

This saturday Saints travel to league leaders North Petherton determined to give a good account of ourselves. With 4 league games and a cup final to go, now is not the time to take our foot off the pedal. Our aim is to be competitive in every match and improve game on game, a good result over Bude saw us back to winning ways and we are looking to build on this as we enter the last few games of the season.

The Sinners travel to Penryn in a merit table outing. Always a tricky game, Sinners will want to ensure that they come home with the spoils and keep momentum going

Finally the colts play a local derby against against Newquay at Tregorrick Park, should be a cracker
