Saints travel to bottom club Wellington in good heart this Saturday following their bonus point win against Sidmouth.
In the recent past, Saints and Wellington have often found themselves in key contests as they looked to climb the league structure but the Somerset club are going through a tough time at the moment and find themselves adrift by ten points at the foot of the table. With this history in mind, everyone at St Austell knows that Wellington are a very dangerous side and having recently made some coaching changes they will be desperate to finish their pre-Christmas games well to give them momentum in the New Year.
Saints have won 3 of their last 4 league and cup games and will be keen to maintain their run of wins. Sitting 7th in the 14 team league, the Saints have won 2 out of 6 away games and will look to take their good form on the road. With several players back after injury and unavailability there is now real competition for places and some different playing options to consider. Our Sinners are also going well and there are opportunities for everyone to play rugby and impress.
The next 2 weeks see Saints make their longest trips of the season and the real challenge is to deliver results away from fortress Tregorrick. We all know that it shouldn't matter, one pitch is much the same as another, but it does affect teams and shows how important the mental side of rugby can be. The second half of the Sidmouth game showed the importance of retaining focus at all times. What looked after 40 minutes a certain 5 pointer, turned into a real battle to get that final try.
Wellington always provides a stern test so if you can make it up, any support will be much appreciated as the lads look to register another win and end 2016 on a high.
COYS !!!!
