Whitley Bay proved to be tough opponents at Percy Park, but Y9 held on to win through to a second national quarter-final.
Percy Park RUFC, North Shields was the venue for our match against Whitley Bay High School, Newcastle. 20-10 in front at the interval, Y9 just held on to win by 30-26.
Whenever we got our noses in front, the Geordie boys came back even harder, and Eddies had to dig deep to win the game. The Newcastle lads were big and strong with a good Rugby Union background, most of them being regular players at the Percy Park club. They certainly were no pushovers, and finished the game strongly. Some strong defence and sweet ball handling skills were eventually enough to see us into the National quarter-finals for a second consecutive year.
Many thanks to parents and supporters who joined us for the match. Great to have such support on our travels.
