Cage Athletic and Charlton & District in profile

With Steeple Claydon Football Club making a return to Division One Football for the first time since 2011, we take a look at some of the opposition that the Magpies will be up against over the course of the season.

We begin with the C's - Cage Athletic and Charlton & District

Cage Athletic - were noted by one Great Linford Reserve player as being "a tough, dangerous and youthful side - their league positon last season didn't do them justice". New to the NBDFL, Cage Athletic were immediately placed in Division One, skipping a season in Division Two. After an exciting start to the season, results seemed to tail off for the Rickley Park based side, finishing 14th with 24 points from 28 games. Cage will be a new test for the Magpies, having never played the side previously.

Charlton & District
- after some seasons of struggling in Division One with mid-table and lower table finishes in recent years, 2012-13 was an extremely successful season for Charlton, finishing 4th overall with 52 points from their 28 games. Charlton have always been a tough side to play on their home turf which is often a tight affair on a relatively small pitch. The side has goals in them, scoring 66 in the league last year. The side also scooped the Michael Connelly award for the best administered team in the NBDFL at the NBDFL AGM held on Tuesday 18th June.
