U-13s Bounce Back after Scottish Cup Exit in Style
Stenny U-13s played host to West of Scotland U-13s in the WDJCU U-13 B League at the Tryst tonight coming out convincing winners.
On a warm but overcast evening at the Tryst, wee Stenny came out on top against West of Scotland in this U-13 B league WDJCU match.
Stenhousemuir won the toss and asked West to bat first.
This was to prove the correct decision as they managed to restrict West from scoring freely, partly through some enthusiastic fielding but also some excellent bowling capturing 10 West wickets.
In summary West scored 38 runs of the bat, were awarded 26 extras, base score in pairs cricket matches +200, but lost 10 wickets @ -5 per wicket lost. So 38 + 24 + 200 - 50 = 212.
So West's total after their 20 overs was 212.
Pick of the Stenny bowlers was Craig McIntosh who took 5 for 9 in his 3 overs, Usman Abbid & Hassan Muhammed took 2 wickets each and Nathan Moses took the other one.
In reply Stenny got off to a storming start when the pair Hassan Muhammed 13 and Usman Abbid 20 put on an excellent opening stand and were out only the once between them. The next two pairs put on an additional 27 runs plus extras and again were out just the once between all four of them. The final pair despite being out on three occasions scored well to put the game beyond any doubt - Craig McIntosh scoring 37 personally.
So in summary Stenny scored 103 runs from the bat, were awarded 33 extras, base score in pairs cricket + 200 runs, but lost 5 wickets @ -5 per wicket lost. So 90 + 28 + 200 - 25 = 311.
So Stenny's total after 20 overs was 311 - a win by 99 runs.
Several useful contributions tonight but one stand out performance earns him the Website Man of The Match and that goes to Craig McIntosh for his 37 runs following up his bowling of 3 overs 5 wickets for only 9 runs. Well done Craig.
