Ian Nichols was unveiled as Steyning Town Community Football Clubs new chairman at last nights club AGM.

Nichols has been serving as Vice Chairman for the past 3 seasons and was the natural choice to succeed outgoing chairman Richard Woodbridge in what we expect to be a pretty seamless transition. He will oversee the whole club from top to bottom from U5s right through to adults, a total of 21 teams. He has been a key committee member over the past three seasons and understands the workings of the club first hand.

When asked about the new role last night Ian said "I am greatly honored to have been appointed as the new Chairman of Steyning Town Community F.C. I would firstly like to thank my predecessor Richard Woodbridge for his tremendous achievements over recent years. I am fortunate to be taking over at a time when we have such a fantastic and committed group of players, staff and committee members as well as a superb coaching setup led by 1st team manager Gerry Murphy".

He added "With the investment in our state of the art pitch and facilities and the support of our partners and stakeholders I fully expect to see Steyning Town succeed at all levels over the next few years. I am really looking forward to the coming season, to continue working with this great club to help achieve this. There are exciting times ahead for sure".

Existing committee member Marco Spano was voted in as Vice Chairman, and will work alongside Nichols shaping the future direction of the club.

The appointments are timely ahead of the first and reserve teams first pre season friendlies against Wessex Premier League side AFC Portchester this coming Saturday July 8th. A stiff test for the squad. Pre season trainuing continues for all teams U18 and above this every Tuesday and Thursday between now and the new season.
