On Saturday, Town traveled to struggling Seaford but only returned home with just the one point from a disappointing 0-0 draw.

With Dan Gainsford and Jake Chadwick returning to the side after missing Tuesday's trip to Whitehawk this was certainly a fixture where Town expected maximum spoils. The whole match turned out to be a very scrappy affair, played in a strong driving wind which made crossing the ball and anything aerial extremely difficult. Coupled with the extremely bobbly nature of the long grass on the playing surface conditions were most certainly not ideal for decent football.

Despite counting ourselves very unlucky to have two first-half goals disallowed, and one for a quite dubious offside decision, it was the hosts who mainly looked the more likely side to score. On several occasions Hornets' lively front men Connor Jones and Michael Lloyd, both signed in the last few weeks, came close to giving them the lead, hitting our woodwork and at least three times forcing Ben Rose to make fine saves.

It wasn't really until the second-half that we started to up our game with that swirling wind working more in our favor.
Early on it was necessary to make a substitution when Lee Early (no 'pun' intended!) was brought on to replace an injured Shaun Skipper who was unfortunate to cop an opponent's stray elbow straight in the 'fizog' (totally unintentional of course).

We started to create chances as the game wore on, with a good long ball from Gainsford finding Kev Sharpe moving into their box who hit his shot just over the top. Minutes later Jake Chadwick hit a nice long range effort, which also dipped just over. Lee Garnham battled hard as ever and Lee Early put in a good shift after coming on. Young Chadwick, coming more in to the game, impressed again, running well on and off the ball and the same can be said of Kev Sharpe, despite picking up a booking for a foul.

Later substitutions were also made with youngsters Lewis Smart and Russell Wadey replacing Rob Clark and Matt Dodd respectively and the fresh legs sparked a bit of a late rally which saw us force some corners down their end and put the Hornets' goal under pressure in the dying minutes. Too no avail though as all the ping pong in the opponents box on a number of occasions came to nothing!

On the whole, not a great performance and certainly no classic in difficult conditions. However it ws a second consecutive clean sheet in the league. It certainly appeared that Tuesday nights exertions at Whitehawk took their toll on a number of the squad. For considerable periods Seaford, with their new sharpness up front, looked nothing like a basement side and will consider themselves very unlucky not to have taken all three points on the day and on this form will cause opponents problems between now and the end of the season.

Next up Lingfield at home on Saturday, and hopefully a couple of new signings in the pipeline.
