It was another case of 'after the Lord Mayor's show' for Town on Tuesday night when they went down 1-0 at home to Sidlesham.

A disappointing evening was made worse with the news yesterday that influential defender Danny Gainsford suffered a fractured foot and will be out for the rest of the season.Best wishes with that Danny.

From the side that hammered Oakwood on Saturday, Ash Finch and Lewis Levoi returned in place of Ollie Pickup and Myles Hull-Flower. Young Jonny Taylor came in again on the bench.

We actually started the match quite brightly and could have gone ahead right from KO when Rob Hare broke down the right to cut in and shoot from the edge of their box across goal and just wide of left.

Sids soon settled though with front men Bassill and Bayley making inroads. Ben Rose was certainly called upon to earn his corn, saving well at the near post from Bayley and then saving well with his feet from Jefkins. We also rode our luck somewhat when a Rose clearance cannoned straight back off a Sids player at point blank range for Ash Finch to block on the goal line.

We indeed tried to take the game to them but seemed a little tired and generally lack-lustre. Our best chance came when Craig Knowles cut promisingly in from the left only to hit his shot straight at the advancing keeper.

We started the second half a little more lively with Lee Garnham going close right from KO, and a couple of minutes later another excellent Shaun Skipper free-kick from the left found Lewis Levoi in the box whose header flashed narrowly wide.

On 50 minutes though we went a goal behind to a superbly executed goal from Tom Bayley who beat 3 or 4 defenders as he cut in from the left and finsished with a thumping low drive. 0-1.

We tried to get back into the game with Garnham and Rob Clark linking well but that final ball wasn't always right and throughout we lacked that punch we had v Oakwood on Saturday.

Garnham went close with a header cleared off the line and a Levoi free-kick was tipped away. Substitutions were made with Jonny Taylor on for Hare and Kev Sharpe replacing Knowles, who had copped a heavy blow from a robust challenge that could have easily been a penalty.

It was one of those nights though, and we actually ended the match under the cosh again as Sids pressed to extend their lead.

We kept it to 1-0 though but a very disappointing result after our decent run of form and indeed it's 3 defeats to Sidlesham this season with them having also beaten us at their place earlier in the season in the League and the Div One Cup.

Two games to go now and hopefully we can get back on track for a strong finish this Saturday at home to Lingfield.
