After two excellent results over Easter it was back down to earth for Town on Saturday with a very disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to Southwick.

From last Tuesday's team Dan Gainsford returned with Karim Bukleb and Louis Smart also coming into the side and Rob Hare dropping to the bench. Craig Knowles and Russ Wadey unavailable.
Throughout the whole match we seemed to lack punch up front and didn't create too much in thw way of chances. Wickers always look ed the stronger side and were the quicker off the blocks with former Town winger Jordan Peskett looking lively down their left.

Within the first half hour Ben Rose was called into action several times to keep them out before on 35 and somewhat against the run of play we took the lead. Another superbly delivered Shaun Skipper free-kick from the left found the head of Lewis Levoi in the box who nodded past keeper Howard for 1-0.

The goal pepped us up a bit and we settled a little with Lee Garnham (who fought off a migraine to play the full 90 minutes) and Rob Clark both going close.

However, Wickers had their own ideas and were up for the fight and right on half time pulled level with a well taken goal. An incisive diagonal pass across our box found Donnelley coming in from the right who fired low past Rose to equalize.

On the restart the whistle signalled the break. Always a bad time to concede. Half time -Town 1 Southwick 1

In the second half we tried to press to regain the lead and chances came. Mo Al-Samarie broke down the left to get round the back and centre for Levoi to miscue in front of goal and Matt Dodd and Garnham also went close.

But Wickers continued to take the game to us and on 75 Dean Smith gave them a deserved lead . 1-2.

Then on 85 the game was really put to bed when Donnelly again sprung us at the back to move in and slot past the advancing Rose. 1-3.

All three subs, Rob Hare, Ollie Pickup and Lee Early were used but the pattern and direction never really changed and it just wasn't our day alas.

A great shame after Tuesday's 'blood & guts' battle with Storrington but hopefully it's just a blip and we'll get back on track for a big finish in next Saturday's trip over to Little Common for our final away match of the season.

After that it's five home fixtures to round off with. Final score - Town 1 Southwick 3
