Town returned to winning ways in superb style on Friday night with a highly impressive 4-0 win at home to Oakwood.

We kicked off bolstered by two new signings. Former Town striker Alfie Gritt, who has rejoined us from Loxwood, went straight into the starting 11 and Liam Hunter, signed from Horsham YMCA, started on the bench. Ryan Timms, Rob Clark, Josh Maher, Scott Faber, Zac Haulkham and Dom Ozga all returned to the side after being rested at Uckfield in mid week.

We were always the more dominant side playing fast free flowing attacking football with superb link up play throughout.

After Connor Bull and Scott Faber went close in the opening stages, on 8 minutes we took the lead. A long clearance from keeper J J found Alfie Gritt moving into space just outside their box, he took a sublime first touch and curled a shot past the Oaks keeper and opened his account. 1-0 Town!

Minutes later Dom Ozga rattled the Oaks cross bar with a header from close range and then on 18 munutes we went two up. Josh Maher, who constantly tormented down the left, got away to deliver a neat low cross for Gritt to slot home for his and our second. Moments later Oakwood rattled the bar with a rare attack, with JJ getting his hands to the rasping shot.

We continued to dominate in all areas of the park and Gritt twice went close to a hat trick, however heading up to the break Ozga made an incisive run in from the left to rifle a great low strike from just outside their box finding the bottom right corner for 3-0. Breath taking stuff! Half time - Town 3 Oakwood 0

After the break we continued where we'd left off and after barely a minute were 4 up when Rob Clark billowed their net with a lovely curling shot after a number of players fluffed their lines from close range . We pressed for more and drew on the strength from the bench.

New signing Liam Hunter, who provided some great touches, replaced Gritt and Mayckol Sabino and Chris Neatherway came on for Ryan Timms and Rob Clark respectively.

Ozga and Netherway both nearly added a fifth and down the other end J J was called into action going full stretch to keep out a good attempt from Oaks midfielder Danster.
Yes, a brilliant all round display and what an excellent return debut for Alfie Grit. Welcome home!

Well done one and all on a very good performance, bouncing back after a couple of defeats, and additionally Alfold's 4-3 defeat at Wick on Saturday means we hold 2nd place in the table on 21 points from 9 played!

On Tuesday night it's back to cup football again with a trip up to St Francis Rangers in the Div One League Cup (KO @ Colwell Road 7.30pm) and next Saturday of course it's FA Vase day again at the Shooting Field and the visit of Walton & Hersham of the Combined Counties Premier (KO 3pm)

A big crowd is expected, so be there early. We're Wembley bound! Up the Barrowmen!!
