Steyning Town Community FC are delighted to announce that they will be running a brand new womens football team in the 2018/19 season.

The team will be known as Steyning Town Women FC , will be managed by Steve Weller and will be playing in the South East Counties Womens League, Division 1 West which will include matches against a significant number of other local SECFL clubs. The majority of the squad lead by captain Karen Bridgewater, were plying their trade at Cowfold Ladies last season.

Club chairman Ian Nichols said " Myself and the committee are really very excited about the opportunity of bringing womens football to Steyning Town. It is something we have been looking to achieve for a number of years and to finally get it off the ground is great news."

He went on to add "Womens football is a really fast growing and exciting area of the game and I'm sure the team will be great ambassadors for the club and in return the club will be doing everything to ensure the team is successful and is well supported. The team will really help us in the promotion of our junior girls football where we are successfully increasing numbers, and we hope this team will inspire younger girls to come and watch and potentially take up the game."

Steve Weller , the manager of the team added, "After 3 successful years at Cowfold, where we were very well looked after, we felt it was time to move on to a club with girls teams. We have a small squad and hope this move to a club with the profile of Steyning, and their excellent 3G pitch & facilties, will encourage new players to come and join us”

The team will be playing their matches on Sunday afternoons , and will be training on Wednesday evenings. Anyone interested should come along to training which starts on Wednesday July 4th at 20.00 or contact Karen on 07725 480518 or kazb49@hotmail.com
