AT HOME AFTER LONG BATTLE WITH LEUKAEMIA

My Dad, Graham became involved with the club not long after it was founded, back in 1964 by Glyn Davies who he knew from school. He became involved after having operations on both of his cartlidges. He had rehab at Patsull Park, and after discharged from the centre, he asked Glyn if he come training first to help his rehab, then started assisting Glyn, generally.

Once the club became Shifnal Town in 1972 a committee was formed and Graham was a big part of it.
In the late 70’s Shifnal were now in the West Midlands League, Graham became fixture secretary, a job that he did very well with his good organisational skills. He did this from 1978-1985.

He has been one of the clubs biggest fundraisers over the years, raising a lot of money. He started of selling the tote & the 200 club which he did for a long time.
In the early 1980’s the club was now in the West Mids Premier League, and he helped to do the matchday programme.
He used to get all of the many adverts for this.
He used to go around Shifnal, and Albrighton, Beckbury, Sheriffhales, etc selling Goalline scratchcards from 1978-84. The money from this paid the players wages in the early 80’s, for the team that won the strong West Mids Premier two seasons on the kick under Ken Jones.
He used to often reminise about this team, and talk about those good times and and the many happy memories.
He left the committee in 1985 when his two sons started playing for the Europeans, and helped out there.
He still supported and watched the Town along with his two sons Paul & David.
When the club started to play at Phoenix Park he was asked to re-join the committee again which he did along with David.
Later he helped out with matchday hospitality.
In 2004 he was elected a life member of the club, and has his name on the wooden board in the social club.
When he retired from the committee in 2008, he still came to most home matches and some away games.

He will be missed around the club and at Phoenix Park.
The thoughts are with his family his wife Jean, and sons Paul & David.
