It was a different looking 3's that took the field against Hailsham at St Paul's on Saturday with Colin Upchurch
in goal for the first time!
The first half started evenly but increasingly Saints were on the back foot with only some fine saves from Colin Upchurch
keeping the scores level. But eventually the pressure told and Hailsham scored 2 goals in quick succession.
However Saints then managed to force their first short corner which was pushed back strongly by Greg Lindfield for Steve Branagan
to strike home via a deflection off a defenders stick. It looked like the half time score would be 2-1 to Hailsham but with the last touch of the half they scored a third when a fine save from Upchurch fell to a Hailsham forward to force the ball home to give them a 3-1 half time lead.
The half time team talk seemed to inspire Saints and Stuart Campbell
scored just after the restart. Some fine defending by debutant Will Ryan
helped keep Hailsham out and gradually Saints midfield of Greg Lindfield, Steve Kent
and substitute Tim Upchurch
took control of the game and Greg Lindfield grabbed the equaliser from a well worked short corner.
This was followed by 3 more goals form Stuart Campbell
, Janek Lewandowski
and Jamie Gustard
to make it 5 goals for Saints in the second half without reply. Hailsham had their chances but some fine saves from man of the match Colin Upchurch
kept them out to give the 3's their first win of the season
