| St Francis 1 | 1 | vs | 5 | Brighton 4 |
Things go from bad to worse
Another loss puts St Francis in 4th place, 6 points of Mid Sussex who are top
Another bad game for St Francis 1st XI. Brighton came to the triangle where St Francis had not lost this season but they started well and within a few minutes were ahead after a slow and slugish start from the greens. This did spark St Francis to life and they fought back straight away with good play from Chris Batchelor, Ed Boucher and Oli Keating, the latter tucking the ball away. This seemed to be the only good moment in the match for the greens as poor defending, bad marking and missed tackles let Brighton carve through St Francis and have a 4-1 lead at half time. The game was a tough affair with some hard challenges coming in from Brighton showing their desire to win at whatever cost. This rattled the greens and tempers rose, arguements started and bad challenges start to occur. St Francis did try to fight back with plenty of opportunities to score simple goals but it wasn't to be, with passes going astray and players not making decisions quick enough, and the team playing more like individuals. Rob Martin in goal kept the score at 4-1 with some great saves but couldn't do anyting about Brighton's 5th goal as he was left one on one again. Ed Boucher got DOD for lossing his temper and getting frustrated with the umpire. This puts St Francis in 4th place 6 points behind the top 2 teams. With 2 big games over the next 2 weeks St Francis need to sort out their performances and get back to winning ways.
