St Helens Town and AFC Blackpool meet at Brocstedes Park this evening with Town looking to get back to winning ways and avenge their recent defeat.

AFC Blackpool arrive off the back of a 2-0 defeat at Champions elect Norton United but prior to this had defeated Town at Jepson Way just ten days ago.

Town had found themselves 4-0 by the hour mark with the 'Tangerines' goals coming from Singleton (2), Baird and Vaughan. There was a mini revival by Town with Michael Sykes-Wright reducing the arrears before a sustained period of pressure saw Andy Olsen hit the woodwork and then eventually net with five minutes remaining.

Town have suffered two further defeats since the trip to the Fylde coast with a 3-2 reverse at Bacup followed by a 0-3 home reverse against RUncorn Linnets on Tuesday evening.

Ashton Athletic's win at Alsager Town earlier this week mathematically confirmed Town's Premier Division status. In truth Town's early season form has kept us away from the relegation dog-fight. Near neighbours Wigan Robin Park appear to have had their fate sealed - last night Bacup & Rossendale Borough recorded a 2-0 win over Glossop North End to ensure the Robins cannot get out of the relegation places.

Last season saw the clubs meet three times with goals from Hull (2) and Waddington seeing AFC Blackpool make progress in the League Challenge Cup 0-3 at Edge Green Street. In the League it was a 0-0 draw at Blackpool back in March 2013 while a month later the ‘Mechanics’ recorded a 1-2 win at Edge Green Street with goals from Donnelly and Singleton while Chris Williams hit Town’s reply from the penalty spot..

Two points currently separate Town and Blackpool with the seasiders currently holding the advantage on 44 points but Town have a game in hand.

AFC Blackpool travel to near neighbours Squires Gate on Easter Monday while their final league fixture sees Congleton Town journey north. For Town Saturday sees the visit of Glossop North End and then it's an Easter Monday derby as we entertain 'landlords' Ashton Athletic. The season comes to an end with a trip to our friends (and long time league leaders) Maine Road on Saturday 26th April, 3.00pm

Tonight's kick off is 7.45pm

Admission £5 Adults, £3 Concession and Match Programme is £2
