Town take on high flying Glossop North End on Saturday afternoon and will be hoping to build on Thursday evening’s 1-1 draw with AFC Blackpool

The ‘Hillmen’, visiting Brocstedes Park, will be looking to consolidate third place in the Premier Division and despite two defeats in the last three games they will provide tough opposition for Town.

Midweek saw Glossop lose 2-0 at Bacup and Rossendale Borough who were battling against the drop and ten days ago North End were defeated 3-1 at Bootle ending a 22 game unbeaten run - Alex Byrne hitting their consolation goal.

Sandwiched in between Chris Wilcock’s charges recorded a 4-1 win over Alsager Town at Surrey Street – strikes from Ben Richardson and Dave Young plus two goals from Kieran Lugsden secured the three points.

For Town, Thursday evening saw them earn a point courtesy of a 1-1 draw when AFC Blackpool with young ‘keeper Rory Crowther in outstanding form and making four superb first half saves. Tom Lightbody gave Town the lead on the hour mark with his first Town goal but the sea-siders levelled on 77 minutes through Mitchell Newsham. Two days earlier a good crowd at Brocstedes Park had witnessed a 0-3 win for Runcorn Linnets in their bid to chase down leaders Norton United.

Last season the two teams met at Edge Green Street in April where a Phil Williams goal gave Town a 1-1 draw and at Surrey Street a last gasp Chris Lomax goal gave Town a 3-4 win in a thrilling encounter.

This term Town travelled to Surrey Street back (5th October) and recorded a fine 2-3 victory with goals from Andy Gillespie, Shaun Judge and Michael Sykes-Wright with Tom Bailey and Alex Byrne replying for the home side.
