St Helens Town support Mitchell’s plan to Keep Football Alive with formation of new league.

St Helens Town are delighted to welcome Keep Football Alive as one of their latest sponsors – the local company will be Executive Match sponsors against Bacup & Rossendale Borough on Saturday 29th November.

Keep Football Alive is an organisation set up in and around St Helens to provide a local small sided football league.

Paul Mitchell said: “I have refereed in football for many years and I have been concerned by the demise of some of the grass roots football.

“There are a few small sided football businesses around, mainly out of the area. I felt it needed a business that put some of its profits back into grass roots football.”

The league is affiliated to the Liverpool County Football Association and runs five, six and seven a side leagues.

The newest league to be set up is a male adult league on Friday nights at Selwyn Jones Sports Centre, Newton-le-Willows, between 6pm and 9pm.

The League is also looking for Ladies Teams and Youth Teams for their small sided leagues on a Saturdays and Sundays.

If any school or sports centres feel they would like to get involved with the league, at their premises either contact Paul on 07982 245152 or visit www.keepfootballalive.co.uk

Paul said, 'We are continually looking for premises to run our small sided football leagues from.'

Town Chairman John McKiernan added, ‘It’s great to have a local business join us and I am sure our partnership will benefit both parties.
