Despite a stiff breeze the game was played in bright sunshine and in the opening half both sides had plenty of possession but clear cut chances were at a premium.
However, it was the visitors who benefited from some poor marking as Dave Young's unmarked header, five minutes before the break, looped over Ciaran Gibson in the Town goal to the delight of the excellent travelling support.
Town should have been level early in the second half but Hall in the Glossop goal saved well after good work from Adam Storey and Andy Gillespie.
Town's lack of composure in the final third proved to be frustrating and in defence they were punished further when another Glossop through ball was not dealt with and from the resultant cross Lee Malkin headed home to make it 0-2.
Manager Ian Price will be looking for a response on Easter Monday when Town entertain 'landlords' Ashton Athletic at Brocstedes Park, kick off 3.00pm
