Some bad luck but excellent play
St Ives U7s travelled to Rushden, who as well as a U7s squad also have a large team of U6s which gave us the chance to play an all-U7s side as well as another team which had several of our younger players involved.
The U7s team came away unlucky to lose all three matches, two of them by a single try, but everyone put in a great performance. There were passing moves with several phases of play, and some good work on moving the ball across the width of the pitch by passing instead of running. The tagging was also some of the best seen this season, with spirited defence putting lots of pressure on the Rushden team.
Tries came from Ellis, Gregor, Oliver and Daniel K.
The 7s+6s team also played well against a well-organised Rushden U6 side, and showed some good running and passing skills as well as collecting a good haul of tags. Tries came from Ethan, and scoring their first tries for the team were Joe, Edward, James and Daniel C.
