Colts Lose Out In Cup Final
St Austell 24 V 3 St Ives
Last Sunday the St Ives Colts travelled to St Austell for the under 18’s Championship Cup Final. This was the St Ives Colts second successive appearance in this competition final, last year they defeated Launceston Colts to win the trophy.
This year however things did not go so well for the young Hakes, the game started badly for them as they went behind to 2 converted tries from St Austell who took a grip on the game that they were never to relinquish.
Things went from bad to worse for St Ives when their scrum half was yellow carded for something the referee saw in a maul. The half ended with St Ives trailing by 19 points to nil.
The second period began with a more determined looking St Ives team, they opened the scoring in the half from a Jacob Ninnes penalty to give them hope at 19-3, but alas it was not to be for the St Ives players this season, late in the game they conceded another try to St Austell to trail by 24 points to 3, the final score in the game.
