St Jacques Vikings host the only unbeaten side in Sussex Armada Ale Division 2, Shoreham RFC on Saturday.
The Vikings go into the game sitting top of the table, but know they will likely need to win to stay at the summit.
They will hope to start quickly on Saturday, after several poor starts this season, including against Newick at the KGV two weeks ago.
With no Guernsey Colts available this weekend due to their game on Sunday, and several other players unavailable Steve Melbourne has named a reworked side.
Captain Leon Gardner moves to Hooker this week, joined by Cally Murdoch & Nico Ashplant either side of him. The Smith brothers Jacob & Mitchell continue in the second row, with Alfie Penney and Alex Lock starting as respective flankers. St Jacques stalwart Bjorn Van Der Kammen comes back in for only his second game of the season at number 8. The Vikings forwards know they will have a massive part to play in the game, and without a strong performance up front victory will be hard on Saturday.
Johan Greenberg moves to scrum half in the absence of Colt Ben Holland & Taylor Quate, the latter playing with Guernsey Raiders this weekend. Greenberg first played at halfback when he moved to the Island and still a capable player in the position.
With no Tom Teasdale or Alec Bailey through Colts commitments & injury, David Haimes will play at fly-half for his first game of the season. A man well known to Vikings supporters he has proved to be a dependable player previously and who hopefully can feed the Vikings backline to unlock the Shoreham defence.
Callum Gladstone continues at inside centre, and he will be joined by Jim Elliot. The experienced Guernsey Veteran is still a great asset, and with Johan Greenberg playing in the no. 9 shirt and no Leon Collenette he is needed. His experience will no doubt help the young players around him.
Conner Sullivan continues at fullback, with David Horscraft and Cashel Cahill on the wings.
On the bench James Mroch, Hugh Birley, Trevor Marquis, Billy Wickham & George Collenette provide the reinforcements. Collenette is back for his first game of the season, and after impressing last season the Vikings coaches will be thrilled to have him back in fold.
Kick off is 1.30pm on Saturday at the KGV.
