Crosby take the game to a tough Sefton outfit

Crosby faced an in form Sefton side who have been performing admirably in the league and knew they would need to be at their best to gain the points on a neutral ground at Ormskirk.

The game started as a very tense affair with Crosby giving away penalty after penalty and it looked like their ill discipline would once again get the better if them. And Sefton were battering the ball up the forwards.

After 20 minutes Crosby found their breakthrough as Sefton knocked on in their own in their own 22 and Tinsley was able to release Houghton to dummy the ball to Storey and crash Iver the line.

Crosby were keeping up the pressure and some powerful drives by Harrison got Crosby in excellent position and The ball was worked wide and Owens bursting from the half way line like a gazelle was released by Beckett for a swan dive finish.

The second half started but as the first half finished. Crosby kept up the pressure and after a turnover by Swain the ball was worked to the backs and Houghton released Beckett through a gap for his second of the afternoon.

Crosby for some reason allowed their penalty count to rise once again allowing Sefton excellent field position. Sefton were not going to let this be and an 8 pick up from the scrum was crashed over.

Crosby needed to get back into the game and excellent work from Giles, Bell and Thomas in the front row won the ball against the head and they were unlucky not to score on the next play as Beckett failed to take Owens offload by the touchline.

Crosby forced Sefton over their own try line and the resulting scrum was pushed over only excellent work from Sefton number 9 could prevent Cunningham from adding his second.

Beckett was nearly in for his hat trick when Croston broke through and offloaded to Beckett and with the try line begging he knocked on.

His hat trick wasn't far off and another set play off a scrum Tinsley played Beckett through for his first Crosby hat trick and he rightly bought the jug at the end.

Crosby were not letting the pressure up and a crash ball from Thomas created space and Bell finding himself in the unfamiliar position of scrum half got the ball to Tinsley and a shirt pass to Houghton earn him his second of the day.

Crosby were made to work hard all game, a lot harder than many other weeks this season but a solid scrum and precision in the backs were telling factors.
