The Rugby World Cup will be kicking off for the opening game between England and Fiji on the big screen at Stockport Rugby Club at 8pm.
As warm up and precursor for this, there is the inaugural annual Ben Stollery Challenge Cup between Stockport Grammar 1st XV and Manchester Grammar 1st XV which will kick off at 6pm at Stockport Rugby Club 1st team pitch. Both teams have produced some superb players, and well drilled teams resulting in exciting and close fought matches between the sides over the years.
Ben Stollery was a pupil at Stockport Grammar, and a promising No. 8. He tragically took his own life earlier this year after a period of clinical depression. He was a close friend and colleague of a number of last year’s Stockport Rugby Club U18s, and to so commemorate this, a number of parents have donated an impressive trophy to be challenged every year between MGS and SGS. This is to maintain awareness for young teenage boys of the risk of depression and to ensure that we are aware of the signs, and can talk about the issues openly.

We hope that both matches will be strongly supported by boys and parents of both schools, as well as all the members of Stockport Rugby Club.

The bar will be open, and there will be food available.
