Stockport take the win ( of sorts )
Fixture error helps Port bag the points
Anyone who plays Wrexham will tell you what a quality side they are and this week the Stockport coaches set the players a difficult task when they took one of the mixed ability squads to Wrexham rather than the scheduled A team. The game was played under full Welsh laws, 15 a side, with line out lifting and a catch and drive.
The game itself was played on one of the junior pitches that has a decent camber on it that allowed the Stockport boys a decent first half advantage knowing that defending up hill second half against the Wrexham flyers would be an altogether tougher challenge.
The half itself was played between the halfway line and the Wrexham 22 with Stockport only able to muster a single try in a first half of solid but largely unspectacular rugby with defences largely cancelling each other out.
The half time team talk was going to be about marshalling defences and pressing as a line when over the horizon came redemption in the form of the Bethesda under 13 rugby team in what was obviously a fixture mix up so what was going to be literally an uphill struggle against Wrexham became a very nice second game versus Bethesda. The score at half/full time was 0-5 and a win as the say is a win no matter how jammy!
Thanks to Nick and the boys for another great morning of rugby next month.
