Stockport win the Bath Festival in the Roman City
Stockport under 12's travelled South on the end of season tour to face the cream of the South West for the annual Bath Festival.
After an excellent warm up game on the Saturday against very strong Keynsham side the squad were set fair for the Festival but not before gracing the Rec itself with an impromptu 30 minute game after watching Bath Ladies lift the league title on the Saturday afternoon. What started as a game of touch soon became full contact as the boys couldn't resist smashing each in the Bath stadium.
The festival itself was to be played on the old Bath training ground at Lambridge and with no rain in the last few weeks the games were to be played on a pitch that was harder than concrete and taking spin at one end. The games & victories came came thick and fast with the much anticipated clash with the South West Landrover Champions Chew Valley seeing Stockport run out 3 -1 winners and all without the big guns of Joe Sheridan & Navid who were both injured in the first round of games and who now miss this weeks Cheshire Cup final against who else but our old friends and foes from Chester. Should be a classic as always.
