Marple's search for players to keep them in their new Premier League position, reaches Stockport as Andy Wylie is tempted by a season or 2 in the Premier League.
It's a grey day at Stockport to see their Main Bowler leave after such a short spell. Andy arrived only 2 years ago from the Bradford league and made an immediate impact, nicest person anyone could meet until you put a set of whites on him and a cricket ball in his hand.
He was quickly regarded as the best bowler in the club with his good pace and nagging accuracy, he quickly became part of the undroppable's, "The Elite 6"
In his first season 2010 he took an amazing 62 wickets for only 576 runs at an average of only 9.29.
In his second season 2011 he took an equally amazing 44 wickets for 578 runs at an average of 13.14.
It is for more than Andy's excellent and consistent performances on the field that we shall remember and miss him for like, his willingness to take charge at training and organise fielding drills will be again hard to replace.
Great Memories of Wylo include,
7/59 against Bredbury St Marks - After only scoring 184. Andy blasted out the top order and then finished off the tail in only 19.1 overs.
In only 10.5 overs he blew Georgians away with 6/25 and bowled them out for only 129.
And Let's not forget Andy's favourite moments,
After being disapointed with his own bowling of 1/48, Andy the batsmen showed his team mates his wasn't a one trick pony and nearly rescued his team mates with a majestic 24 not out against Warrington. "This would have been a 50 if he hadn't run out of partners.....
Stockport would of found it a lot tougher to be where they are today with out Andy Wylie and we will definatley miss him in our fight to gain promotion through the Cheshire County Leagues in the next few years.
We all would like to wish Andy all the best in his new challenge we are so sorry to see you go and would welcome Andy back with open arms if he ever feels the time is right to come home.
Good Luck Wylo, Sorry too see you go, Come back soon.
Very kind words! Thank you.
Thanks to everyone at the club who made me feel so welcome and all the lads who indulged me in my never ending desire to do fielding drills!
I take some great memories of one and a half very succesful seasons, and I learned a thing or two about how to celebrate! And a thing or two about youth culture!!
The chance to play a few seasons in the premier league before my body packs in was too tempting for me, and although I was happy at SCC I couldnt say no.
SCC has some very talented players and a great set up, so with a bit of hard work has every chance of climbing through the leagues. I wish you all good luck and will see you through the season.
