After the first two rounds of the group stages were rained off, it all came down to who won the final game by the biggest margin as to who would progress to the quarter finals.

Stockport made the short journey to Cheadle and the hosts batted first with the game starting in drizzle. Cheadle scored an impressive 160 for 4 from their 20 overs. In reply Stockport started well despite the early loss of Divesh Patel with Bruce Roberts and John Mills putting on 75 for the second wicket. After 7 overs, Stockport were 59 for 1 but once the partnership was broken, the run rate started escalating and wickets fell at regular intervals meaning Stockport ended up on 119 for 7. Bruce Roberts completed a superb all round performance with a valiant 60.
