A knee injury sustained during the pre-season friendly victory over Trafford FC appears certain to rule last season’s skipper Brad Maylett out for the season. The Saxons were told he would initially miss the first part of the season, but following a scan on his knee, the news everyone was dreading to hear, was given to Brad.
The club was looking forward to a big season from Maylett who was in excellent form all last season, Brad was training hard and getting himself fit for the new season until the injury struck in the pre-season friendly. The unfortunate injury has been met with disappointment from the Saxons board as they know just how valuable Brads character and passion for football will have helped the lads in the changing rooms and on the training pitch.
Director Wayne Ashworth stated "it was the news we were all dreading. Brad Maylett is a top drawer footballer, but his character in the dressing room and on the pitch, added to his invaluable experience was vital for us this season. It's a huge blow for the club. We would all like to wish Brad a speedy recovery and see him pull on the Saxons shirt as soon as possible".
