Togo International Joins The Saxons
Stockport Sports Announce New Signing – Donaldson Sackey
Stockport Sports are delighted to announce that they have clinched the signing of Togo International Donaldson Sackey. 23 year old striker Sackey has experience in a number of leagues around Europe and has chosen The Saxons as the next step on his career path. On signing for the club Sackey, who counts Emmanuel Adebayor among the players he has played alongside, sat down with Chris Culkin of The Saxons media team to discuss his signing, his career and his hopes for the future.
SS: Donaldson, first of all I'd like to welcome you to the club. Everyone is thrilled that you've signed, it's a real coup to have a full International player here. Can you tell the supporters a bit about yourself, what sort of player you are and what we can expect to see from you?
DS: I'm a fast, skillful player. I'm not that old but I have some experience. I was always playing high level in other countries and also I'm an International with Togo. I'm a hard-working player and I'm mobile. I work hard to create and score goals. My biggest influence is Brazilian player Ronaldo and his way to play.
SS: You mention playing in other countries Donaldson, which countries have you played in and for which clubs?
DS: I was in the youth team academy at Hamburger SV and then joined Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga. I played in their reserves. I had two seasons there before joining Borussia Berlin in 3 Bundesliga. Then I went to SD Compostela in Spain in the Spanish second division where I had one season and a half. Finally I had a time at FC Oss in Netherlands.
SS: That's an impressive CV Donaldson, what persuaded you to join Stockport Sports?
DS: I had a chat with the club chairman and staff, They explained everything to me. And also Peter Withe was a big factor to come as he is a manager with a lot of experience. He is great, a very good manager with good training methods. We can go very far here, we have a good young squad with hungry players. The club is very good, it's a well organised club with a bright future. I had offers from other clubs but decided to sign here.
SS: And what do you hope for now you are here?
DS: Having a good season and finding the net. Promotion to the next league and to play at the highest level I can. Of course I'm looking forward to helping the team and going as far as possible. The league will be a tough league, every game will be a final.
SS: Finally Donaldson, as I know you want to get back to training with your new team-mates, have you a message for the clubs supporters?
DS: I want to say come and support us. We have great young talents, and we need everyone of you guys.
SS: Donaldson, it's been great to chat to you. Thank you for your time and I look forward to seeing you in the team as soon as possible.
DS: Thank you
