Georgians Make The Papers (Again)
Georgians Grab the Headlines of TV & Radio
Georgians found themselves grabbing the headlines of national newspapers and radio again this weekend. Following on from our game at Mottram Hall last season with International Referees.
However this time, unless you've been hibernating since 2:00pm on Saturday 1st September, you'll already be aware of the incredible events that went on down at Cromley Road this weekend.
As Ex Manchester United & England legend Paul Scholes made the starting the eleven of our visitors Royton Town FC.
Classed as the greatest midfielder of his time by the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Andres Iniesta & Xavi. It simply wasn't enough for Royton as we deservedly took all 3 points with a 1-0 win.
Midway through the first half Callum Campbell got on the end of a Leon Murphy cross to give us the lead and from then on we controlled the game and saw out the remainder of the 90 minutes.
Since the whistle was blown to signal the start of the game we've found the club at the centre of attention for media outlets up and down the country.
Helped by the brilliant number of supporters who made it down to Cromley Road on Saturday afternoon to watch us in the sun and capture a rare glimpse of Scholesy in the flesh.
After radio interviews, BBC Sport, Daily Mail etc the club has had some great exposure from the unlikely event but most importantly we come away from a crazy weekend with the WIN!
Completely deserved by the lads for a disciplined and tireless performance controlled from start to finish. On to Europe next week as we play in the 1st Round of the Cheshire Cup.
