There will be a farewell to Neil afterwards at Disley Golf Club.

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of our dear friend, and long-time club member, Neil Singleton. A massive loss for Stockport Lacrosse Club and for lacrosse at large, and an even bigger loss in the lives of his family, his wider lacrosse family and his many many friends

Neil joined the club as a keen parent, as both his sons Nathan and Joe were part of the successful Mr Grainger Disley recruitment era in the early 90s. They were a strong part of the Juniors and both of them went on to make Neil so proud by representing England at U19 and Men’s teams in various championships over the years whilst also helping the club win many domestic trophies over the years.

He and Sandra immersed themselves in club life and became valuable in so many ways over the years as keen parents, supporters, fundraisers, social members of our lacrosse club. More recently Neil was a valuable home referee each and every Saturday. For those of us who knew him you will definitely know that he’s the only goalie to never lose a game for Stockport!

In short, Neil was everything and everywhere and someone that would do anything for his Stockport boys, their teams and the club at large with his passion for sport and life, and his charismatic personality. There’s many a time you would find Neil holding court or telling a story at the bar at Cale Green. That’s something that we shall all really miss.

It is impossible to think of our club without Neil right now and this news has left many of us feeling empty, but, knowing Neil he’d want you to pick your favourite fun memory of him and remember him fondly and possibly even share it on here with a smile and remember him for the fun loving gentleman, solid family man, club member and true legend that he was and always will be.

Rest In Peace Neil Singleton
